This is my 3D take of the beautiful "Reign of Dystopian" concept by the incredibly talented jovi zhao. This piece was my final project for the advanced term at Think Tank Training Centre, completed over sixteen weeks.
Beyond the curriculum, this project served as a personal challenge to push my boundaries and integrate new tools and advanced techniques I picked up from previous professional roles and personal R&D projects. My primary goal was to create a game-ready character that not only honored the original design but also served as a benchmark for the quality and style of work I am passionate about creating.
Artistically, I drew massive inspiration from the beautiful, painterly style of Compulsion Games' South of Midnight and the stunning aesthetics of a since-canceled Project Black. I aimed to capture a similar blend of stylized realism and a rich, folkloric atmosphere in this piece. It is my hope to one day contribute to projects that share this unique and inspiring artistic vision.
The character was rendered in real-time using Unreal Engine 5, with lighting and environment assets from the Quixel Megascans "Dark Ruins" pack to stage the final cinematic shots. along with turn around shots and beauty shots using Flipped Normals Portfolio setup.
